WEC 40: Torres vs. Mizugaki is to be held by World Extreme Cagefighting and is scheduled to take place on April 5, 2009 at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois. The event is expected to air live on the Versus Network.

Bantamweight champion Miguel Torres was to defend his title against no. 1 contender Brian Bowles, but due to a back injury sustained by Bowles, the WEC replaced him in the main event with newly signed Bantamweight Takeya Mizugaki. Also featured on the card will be a match up of former Featherweight title contender Jeff Curran and Joseph Benavidez.
