According to UFC Press Release, UFC 107 will be held in Memphis, Tennessee, folks! I can’t figure out which is more exciting to me: UFC 107, because it’ll be here in Tennessee, or UFC 104 Machida vs. Rua.
B.J. Penn and Diego Sanchez will battle for the lightweight title on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis.
Tickets are set to go on sale October 22, 2009.
In this long-awaited match, B.J. Penn is set to defend his UFC lightweight title against #1 contender Diego Sanchez.
“I know what kind of competitor Diego Sanchez is and I am training very hard. This will be a good test,” Penn said about the challenger.
This should be a great card, as it also features a welterweight bout between former top contender Thiago Alves and Paulo Thiago; and former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, who will fight Cheick Kongo in his first return to the Octagon since his loss to Brock Lesnar (not exactly one of my personal favorite “MMA” fighters.)
So far UFC has tested the market in Nashville, and now Memphis. I think it’s high time we Knoxvillians petition Dana White and invite the UFC to our fair city – what do you say?
