According to FightMetric Mike Kyle set a records for most strikes landed in a five-minute first round of a fight they went on to lose. Kyle landed 110 total strikes in the first round of his fight against Antonio Silva. The previous record was held by Steve Steinbeiss, who landed 73 total strikes in the first round of his loss to Rob Kimmons at UFC on Versus 2.
Kyle looked really good in the first round. His boxing and footwork were sharp and fast. When he dropped Silva with a punch he was quick passing the guard and delivering damage.
In the second round Silva was recovered and was an awaked giant. He was striking more, landing leg kicks and punches. He locked on a tight locking anaconda and Kyle was impressive in escaping. Once Silva mounted Kyle it was all academic.
