Hector Lombard has made a name for himself in the MMA world in recent years, and has finished 24 of his 31 wins. The Bellator middleweight champion’s last appearance with the organisation was a catchweight win over Trevor Prangley. He is now in the late stages of his contract. Where next for Hector, you ask? Well MMA Ratings has the latest.
On Thursday night in Sweden I got to chatting with Hector. He was there with his American Top Team teammates, and when I asked him about his next Bellator fight, he replied, “there probably won’t be one.” Then I queried where he would like to fight next, and his face lit up when I mentioned a possible move to UFC. He said, “I hope so man.” I personally think Hector Lombard would be a force in the UFC middleweight division. Could you imagine Hector facing the winner of Vitor Belfort vs. Wanderlei Silva — how amazing would that be?
“What about Bellator,” you may ask. Well their number one middleweight contender Alexander Shlemenko was involved in a serious car accident on Wednesday, and is out for the foreseeable future, so I forsee Bellator’s season six middleweight tournament winner fighting Shlemenko for the belt in season 7 or 8. Make sure to keep checking in with us for updates.
I saw a tweet or article that had a quote from Dana mentioning he is slightly interested in Hector because he's been doing work in Bellator. I think it would be interesting. 185 needs some new faces and he hits hard; but there is no way to say he has fought comparable competition while in Bellator.
