As has been reported throughout the day, UFC heavyweight champion will be making his return to the octagon sometime this summer.
Here are the highlights from the conference call in which UFC President and Lesnar explained the events of the past few months.
Many fans may not like Lesnar but you have to respect him, especially after what he has gone through.
White started the call by declaring Lesnar to be healthy and that he will begin training immediately.
As long as the winner of the interim heavyweight title bout between No. 1 contender Shane Carwin and Lesnar’s No. 1 fan Frank Mir walks away uninjured, Lesnar will meet that man in the summer.
If by chance the winner is unable to compete by the time Lesnar is ready to return then the winner of the Cain Velasquez-Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera matchup will take on Brock.
White explained that Lesnar had been suffering from severe stomach pain for about a year and that while he was training for his UFC 106 fight with Carwin, Lesnar realized that something was not right.
Doctors surmised that Lesnar had been operating at about 60-80 percent of his capacity due to an abscess in his stomach that was so large it infected the rest of his body.
If a colostomy bag would have been required it would not have been permanent, Lesnar would have needed it for about six-to-eight weeks.
If Lesnar had required any serious surgery that would have spelled the end of his career.
Brock is a possibility for the MMA Expo scheduled for this summer.
Lesnar explained that while he was hospitalized in Canada he was at his lowest moment. He said it was like being in a third-world country.
While explaining that he didn’t want to spew any political propaganda, he feels as though the United States has the best medical care in the world and that we may need some reform, there is no need for a drastic overhaul.
He had to basically escape from the hospital in Canada, from there he went to a hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota.
The medical care he received there during his eleven day stay is what saved his life and his career.
The doctors drained his stomach and removed fourteen CC’s of fluid. He was unable to eat or drink anything during that whole process.
From there he went for a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic and it was confirmed that he was indeed suffering from diverticulitis.
He had lost 40 pounds which brought him down to 248 lbs., he has regained 25 of those pounds back.
Someone asked when was the last time he weighed 248 lbs., Lesnar laughed and said second grade.
Once he was able to get home he regained some of the weight he had lost by sticking to a more healthy diet which included greens.
He explained that he is a carnivore and not a big fan of PETA. He’s a member of the NRA and whatever he kills, he eats. When vegetables were passed around his table he didn’t eat them.
He is now eating more fiber and a more balanced diet.
Brock did a lot of praying and there were a lot of people praying along with him. When he went back to the Mayo Clinic and they told him they found nothing he realized that he was very fortunate, it was a miracle he explained.
Lesnar went back to the health care reform issue and said President Obama wants to reform the nations health care, Lesnar is against it. He was happy to see Massachusetts elect a Republican senator.
Speaking on behalf of the American people, Lesnar once again said how lucky we are to have such great doctors. He didn’t want to criticize the Canadian health care system or their doctors.
While Lesnar believes things happen for a reason, this shouldn’t have happened to him, he is young and healthy. Then all of the sudden something like this happens and you think you are doing things the right way but you’re not.
He is making changes and they are for the better.
The discussion then turned to his nemesis Frank Mir. Lesnar said he didn’t think he beat Mir as bad as he is able to. He called Mir a stalker and said he is looking forward to getting his hands on him again.
Last but not least, Lesnar spoke about all of the speculation regarding his illness. He explained that he is a very private person and that he was not happy when his own camp made any statements about him. He thought about firing them.
So there it is, Lesnar will be back and if the doctors are telling the truth, he will be back better than ever.
As I explained back in November , a truly healthy Lesnar can’t be beaten.
I stand by those words, and Mir can put all of the added weight that his body can hold. He will never match the natural strength that Lesnar possesses.
The UFC can take a big sigh of relief as their Gravy Train is rolling back on track.
A special thanks goes out to Phil Lanides for sharing these conference call notes with us.
