I’ve been a Machida fan for some time. I’ve always appreciated his counter offensive style. His timing and angles aren’t boring, but impressive.
I knew Silva’s style would be a good matchup for Machida, but I didn’t imagine he would finish Silva so quickly and deliberately.
Hopefully this will stifle the Machida critics and he will get his due.
People keep asking “what kind of style is going to beat Machida”. Its not a matter of style, its a matter of quality. Its going to take a better fighter. Someone quicker, more accurate, more powerful, etc.
As for Thiago, there are still questions about his potential. Despite his record, none of his recent performances have shown him to be a top contender.

that’s one thing about Machida no one mentions (i even forgot to mention it): his quickness. he reacts faster than anyone else…when silva would wind up to strike, half the time there was a fist in his face, or he was swinging at air where Machida was a second ago. Same thing happened to Ortiz. Machida makes fast guys look slow.
