What a phenomenal fight. I would look forward to an eventual rematch, especially considering that Faber broke his hand in the first round..

Faber needs to recover and then win another solid fight to earn a third crack in my books.
While I give him credit for going 5 with a busted up hand – and the X-rays are gnarly! – he's 0-2 now and Jose Aldo is chomping at the bit for a title shot.
I think Faber's recent rematches highlight the best and worst examples of when a rematch is appropriate. Both have been for title fights, so there was a certain amount of relevance to begin with, but for the Pulver rematch, Faber had beaten Pulver for five rounds. Afterwards Pulver got destroyed by Leonard Garcia and Faber lost to Brown after throwing a reckless spinning elbow. There was no reason to think a rematch would go any better for Pulver, and it certainly did not.
However, for the Brown rematch, Faber had lost in such a way that it was reasonable that the same would not happen again, and after Faber made quick work of Pulver, we was that it did not happen again.
This time Faber broke his hand early in the match, and despite that, put on quite a competitive performance. I would eagerly await a third fight.
That I said, I agree that Faber should first get a solid win under his belt. Hopefully he can fight Grispi, who would seem to be in line for that type of contender fight after beating Pulver in the manner we saw.
Meanwhile Brown will hopefully test Aldo, who has breezed by everyone in his path to date.
