Immediately following Jon Jones’ victory over Ryan Bader, it was announced that Rashad Evans had blown his knee out in training. Jones was then told in his post-fight interview that the UFC wanted him to replace Evans. Jones accepted and is now set to take on Mauricio Rua in the main event for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship at UFC 128.
This event drew officially drew 9,667 attendees for a live gate of $3,605,725. The Spike TV prelim broadcast earned a 1.2 household rating, including an impressive 1.7 among men 18-49. The one-hour broadcast was the highest-rated program in its timeslot among men 18-49 and men 18-34, and topped the former record of 1.7 million viewers.
