Although the Le/Shamrock fight was good, i think its going overboard to call it fight of the year. It did have some exciting, back and forth action, but there was a lot of more tactical moments, and an overabundance of showboating by Shamrock that cheapened the value of it.
The outcome of the fight ultimately didn’t put either man in the Top Ten, so i think it can only be what it is; A fight between two regional legends with a lot of hype that delivered and entertaining ebb-and-flow style bout.

…Penn-Stevenson wasn’t even remotely competitive in any way. A one sided blow out is never going to be Fight of the Year. Even if Cung Le won all three rounds in my opinion, each round was hotly contested, and Shamrock had him in trouble in the third. Stevenson did nothing.
Meanwhile, Silva-Henderson wasn’t a bad fight, but the first round featured no action and the second round, again, complete blowout. Both fights were bigger than Le-Shamrock in terms of significance, but neither really delivered any kind of competitive action…

[You] were saying Shamrock vs. Le was fight of the year (so far).
…If you do, then WHY was this fight better then others, like Penn/Stevenson or Silva/Henderson?…
