UFC 99: The Comeback is to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on June 13, 2009 in Cologne, Germany. It will be the first UFC event ever held in Germany, as well as the first in mainland Europe (events have previously been held in both the U.K. and Ireland).
On Monday, June 1st, the UFC announced that Mirko “CroCop” Filipović would be returning to the promotion to face Mostapha Al-turk at UFC 99. This will be Filipović’s first fight in the UFC since his unanimous-decision loss to Cheick Kongo at UFC 75 in 2007. Since that fight, he has gone 2-0-0 with one no contest while fighting for other promotions.
An announced bout between Heath Herring and Cain Velasquez is off due to an illness that Herring is suffering. Cheick Kongo was announced as the replacement on the 20th of May.
