Brenneman did a good job taking Alves down and maintaining position. Alves threatened with a kimura, but Brenneman defended well. Brenneman was content to ground and pound from guard and push Alves up against the fence, despite opportunities to improve position, take the back, sink hook in, etc.
In the second round Brenneman had a real nice trip to side control and gained mount at one point, but wasn't able to hold or capitalize on dominant positions. Nevertheless he still dominated with ground and pound, mostly from half guard.
Alves tried to be active off his back throughout the fight, but he was dominated by Brenneman from bell to bell.
