Despite the injury to Chris Weidman, winning streaks converge at UFC 155, as three men seek to equal the longest winning streak in the contendership ranks, while one tries to remain relevant in the division as new contenders swirl around him. Yushin Okami faces the surging Alan Belcher, while Tim Boetsch and Costa Phillippou square off. In a lot of ways, this card could be the middleweight equivalent of the UFC on Fox 4 card, with the best performing fighter earning a chance to be styled on by Anderson Silva at a future date. However, with the superfight between the pound-for-pound great and GSP not entirely ruled out, this could just end up being stage one of a tournament, and one of the winners could square off against the winner of Michael Bisping vs. Vitor Belfort in January. But before we get an epic bit of top-of-the-division matchmaking, we get the potential orgy of violence that is the matchup between Hector Lombard and the man that this writer has labeled “Torquinho,” Rousimar Palhares, at UFC on FX 6. The winner of that fight could be slotted into a contest with one of the aforementioned fighters, or could take on Chris Leben, assuming he gets past Karlos Vemola. This is not to say that any of these men would have a chance against The Spider. However, at least the division is filled with interesting fighters and fights beneath him.
